The University of Louisville Board of Trustees today voted to extend the appointments of School of Dentistry Dean John Sauk and Kent School of Social Work Dean Terry Singer.
The board’s approval comes after committee reviews of the deans’ performance over a five-year period.
“UofL’s School of Dentistry and the Kent School of Social Work are among the most respected schools in the country in their academic disciplines,” said UofL President James Ramsey. “Deans John Sauk and Terry Singer have made it happen with great leadership, community partnerships and faculty members who are turning out some of the best professionals in their fields.”
Sauk’s accomplishments include renovation of the dental school, effective policies for recruiting and retaining faculty and staff and setting new records for donor gifts to the school. He has been dental school dean since 2007.
Singer, hired in 1997 to lead the Kent School, was cited for creating innovative community outreach programs, raising the school’s overall profile in rankings and hiring the nation’s first faculty endowed chair position combining social work and oncology.
