New publishing company, IGE Media, formed

New tag line/branding identity for healthcare publishing company.

IGE Media, a publishing company that serves members of the Kentuckiana business and healthcare communities, officially formed on July 1, 2012 in Louisville, Ky. IGE Media is the only publishing company in Kentuckiana that reaches both the healthcare executive and the healthcare consumer.

IGE Media’s publications offer a unique blend of industry news, features, commentaries and other cutting-edge topics affecting the success of today’s healthcare industry professional and healthcare consumer at the local and national level.

Currently, IGE Media publishes two healthcare newspapers, Medical News and Medical News for You, and produces the annual MediStar Awards.

The 20-year-old Medical News covers the business of healthcare and is distributed to healthcare executives in Kentucky. Sister publication, Medical News for You is distributed to healthcare consumers in the Louisville metro. The MediStar Awards, held in Louisville, Ky. for the past six years, recognizes excellence in the business of healthcare by honoring eight healthcare professionals or organizations for their achievements. New web sites have been launched for Medical News (medicalnews.md), Medical News for You and the MediStar Awards (www.medistarawards.com).

In addition, the company introduced a new logo, company web site www.igemedia.com, and tag line: Informing companies, educating communities.

IGE Media co-owners Tom McMahon and Ben Keeton decided to form the publishing company because of their passion for healthcare.

Keeton, who also serves as publisher, is excited about the formation, “Due to the changing landscape of healthcare, IGE Media serves to be a credible source for healthcare news and information. IGE Media helps business people and consumers understand and navigate healthcare.”

The long-term goals are to build a strong media and communications company that help bridge the gap between people who work in healthcare and people who seek healthcare.

McMahon and Keeton met in 2003 where they were the first two employees at the Health Enterprises Network in Louisville, Ky. They formed a partnership in 2007 and purchased Medical News in September 2008 from Sandy Wensley. Medical News was re-launched and re-designed in September 2009 and its sister consumer publication, Medical News for You launched in March 2010. McMahon turned over leadership to Keeton in 2010.

The company moved into its headquarters at 1044 E. Chestnut Street, Louisville, Ky., 40204 in 2011.
