American Cancer Society honors Lourdes

Lourdes’ Relay for Life Dream Team has achieved a worldwide third-place ranking for its fundraising efforts with its annual Dancing With Our Stars event. The American Cancer Society honored Lourdes at a special recognition luncheon last week.

The 2013 Lourdes Hospital team, which has ranked fourth in the nation and world the past two years, raised $256,000 to help support American Cancer Society research grants, patient support programs, and awareness about early detection and cancer prevention. Lourdes’ dream team was again the top Relay For Life team in the state of Kentucky, and also ranked second among other teams in the Society’s Mid-South Division of Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of McCracken County raised more than $384,000 this past year. The 2014 event will take place May 30 at McCracken County High School. The 8th annual “Dancing With Our Stars” competition will be March 22.
