Highlands Health System hosted an open house to welcome Orthopeadic surgeon and Sports Medicine physician, Robert Royalty, M.D., to the community. Members of the community, Highlands’ employees, and members of the medical staff greeted the new doctor and his family in his office located at 5000 KY Rt. 321 in Prestonsburg (on the Highlands’ campus.)

He then attended the University of Kentucky where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree, followed by the completion of his training in Birmingham, Alabama, studying at the American Sports Medicine Institute with James Andrews, M.D. (Dr. Andrews is arguably the most renowned Orthopaedic surgeon in his profession, operating on famous athletes such as Michael Jordan, Brett Favre, and Drew Brees.)
