The Kentucky Bar Foundation (KBF) recently inducted Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney J. David Porter as president-elect of the Board of Directors. Porter was inducted at a ceremony during the Kentucky Bar Association Annual Convention held at the Lexington Convention Center on June 18. His one-year term begins July 1, 2015.
Porter is a Member (Partner) of Stites & Harbison in the Trusts & Estate Planning Service Group based in the Lexington office. His practice focuses on trusts and estate administration, estate planning and charitable giving, charitable and non-profit organizations, estate and gift taxes, probate and fiduciary law. Porter is a Fellow and Kentucky State Chair of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Within the KBF, he is a Fellow and the former vice president of the Board of Directors.
Outside of the firm, Porter is active in many community organizations. He is currently Chair of the Western Kentucky University Board of Regents. He is also a board member of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra Foundation, Lexington Medical Society Foundation, Inc. and Lexington Public Library Foundation, Inc.
The Kentucky Bar Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1958. It serves as the charitable arm of Kentucky’s legal community, which has maintained a lengthy tradition of giving. Through its history, the KBF has given more than $2.2 million in grants to promote justice and legal education for all Kentuckians.
