auctions featured at The Julep Ball is now live at http://bidpal.net/thejulepball, enabling supporters to start bidding in advance of the May 3 event.

“We are excited to offer this new option this year,” Michael Neumann, 2013 Julep Ball director, said. “Anyone can use the site to browse and pre-bid on auction items, whether they plan to attend The Julep Ball or not. They also may register their information if they are attending the event to greatly speed up the check-in process on the night of the ball.

“We have 50 silent auction packages and five live auction packages, so there is something for every interest,” Neumann said. “Additional packages will be added as they become available, so folks should continue to check the site regularly.”

Online bidding will be open until midnight, Thursday, May 2. Bidders can enter a maximum bid and the system will automatically increase their bid up to their maximum so they do not have to keep checking back.

“Because the site will be taken down at midnight on May 2, folks who are not attending the ball should bid high or buy the item outright if they want to be sure to get it, as after May 2, bidding will be conducted only at the event,” Neumann said.

Neumann also announced that all bidding at the event will be done via smartphone.

“Everyone should be sure to bring their smartphones to The Julep Ball,” he said. “The Bidpal system makes bidding easy, enabling you to enter and check on bids via your own phone.”

The only auction packages not available for bidding online are the Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select bourbon and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel whiskey small-batch packages because the system cannot guarantee that bidders are 21 or older. Woodford Reserve and Jack Daniel’s are each providing a barrel of their product in personalized, individually labeled bottles bearing the winning bidder’s name. The winning bidder also receives a personalized barrel head, distillery tour and other exclusive benefits.

These packages will be auctioned live at the event, which begins at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 3, at the KFC Yum! Center.
