Thorntons Inc., one of Kentucky’s largest privately owned companies, broke ground on its new Store Support Center in Louisville. Due to growth and limited facility space, the company was no longer operating efficiently out of its current 46,000 SF location and sought to expand and relocate its facility.
TEG Architects designed the new 87,120 SF Store Support Center to align to the client’s company culture and values. During a collaborative design process, TEG integrated the use of Virtual Reality to provide real-time collaboration. With this technology, the Thorntons leadership team was immersed into the spaces of their new facility, illustrating scale, material and color. This facilitated the opportunity to provide immediate feedback and allowed the client to make excellent decisions — improving the value of their project.
The resulting facility offered Thorntons the opportunity to create a corporate Identity that attracts the best and brightest team members, new efficiencies and productivity for staff as well as design flexibility that enhances corporate evolution and growth. Construction of the new facility began January 2016 and is slated to be complete in 2017.
