Western Baptist Foundation to host annual golf tournament

A championship flag from a native son and a 25-foot dragster are among the featured highlights at Western Baptist Hospital Foundation’s upcoming fifth annual golf tournament.

Registration is due now to secure tee times for the Sept. 17 scramble at the Country Club of Paducah. Morning and afternoon times are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams, as well as contest hole winners, in the morning and afternoon rounds. Each player also will receive a gift and lunch.

A silent auction will feature a 2011 British Senior Open flag from the Walton Heath Golf Club signed by the winner, PGA professional Russ Cochran of Paducah. The tournament also will showcase a 25-foot dragster driven by Keith Murt, owner of Murtco, Inc.

The event raised more than $80,000 last year, with more than 180 golfers participating. In four years, the tournament has netted nearly $300,000 to benefit Western Baptist Hospital and help meet the healthcare needs of the region.
