The Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation, part of KentuckyOne Health, is pleased to announce new appointments to its 2013-2014 executive committee and board of directors.

Current board members named to officer positions with the executive committee include:

William Summers V, Vice President and Private Banking Officer,Central Bank, appointed to chair of the executive committee

Robert V. Waterman, attorney, Seiler Waterman, LLC, appointed to vice-chair of the executive committee

New members to the board of directors include:

John Applegate, president, Toshiba Business Solutions, overseeing sales, service, administration and logistics.Applegate joined Toshiba in 2004 in a move that allowed him to return to his home state.  He has been in the document imaging industry for over 30 years and has held various senior leadership positions during his career. The focal points of his career have been in building quality client centric organizations, developing future leaders, successfully turning around poor performing companies, while improving and positioning the organizations for growth.

Hunt Schuster, president, The Payroll Group, a national association of payroll providers. Schuster is a native of Louisville and attended the University of Texas at Austin where he graduated in 1984 with a BBA in Finance.  After moving back to Louisville in 1987, he worked for Interstate Auto Supply, a family business based in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. In 1994, he founded PayLogic, a payroll and time and attendance provider.

Scott R. Townsend, attorney, Stites & Harbison. Townsend joined the law firm of Stites & Harbison in 2007 and is a transactional lawyer focusing on corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions and general corporate law. He has also represented lenders in connection with commercial lending transactions, with an emphasis on capital market lending and related issues. Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Scott practiced law with Young & Brooks, LLP, in Houston, Texas, where he served as counsel for municipal utility districts located throughout southeast Texas.

The primary purpose of the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation is to raise and administer funds to educate health care givers, advance clinical research, enhance patient care and provide access to quality health care in the KentuckyOne Health Louisville Market.

In late 2012, the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation board of directors disbursed more than $18 million from unrestricted funds for facility advancements, advanced clinical research and more, representing the largest grants in its history.

The funding disbursements range from a $500,000 investment in making the Kosair Charities Children’s Peace Center at Our Lady of Peace kid-friendly; to a $1.5 million grant to continue the hand transplant program, a partnership of physicians and researchers at Jewish Hospital, Kleinert Kutz & Associates, Christine M. Kleinert Institute and the University of Louisville.; toa $5 million investment to create a hybrid operating room and Resuscitation Center at Jewish Hospital, a first in Kentucky.

The Foundation is always looking for ways to assist those in need and is funded solely by the generous contributions of those wishing to assist its efforts.
